Ubisoft have defended their decision to source some of Watch Dogs: Legion‘s soundtrack through spec work, saying it’s “completely voluntary” for fans to create music hoping Ubi might pick it and pay them for their work.
Shame on Ubisoft for going forward with another campaign like this. I’d love to know what the designers at the company think about it all.
I’m constantly shocked (since this isn’t the first time) that Joseph Gordon-Levitt — who makes his living as an actor — would found a company that allows and enables this crap to happen. I’m certain he would never act in a movie or TV show without assurance of pay, why expect other creatives to be any different?
