Likely going to be a couple bumps in the road while I switch my hosting over to my new provider. Was previously running a plan that — while very affordable — wasn’t really cutting it for speed and features. Thank god for Duplicator.
It’s fun to see all the home screen posts on Micro.blog. I might make it a habit to post my current one every now and then since it changes so often.
Did I need Xenoblade Chronicles 2? No. Did I buy Xenoblade Chronicles 2? You bet I did.
I'm going to be writing up a proper design rationale in the coming days and adding hotspots to the my prototype/mockups. Next step? Maybe finding a developer to help me put it all together.
I'm feeling good about the Micro.blog Android concept. It was nice to flex some Material Design muscles again.
I had a busy weekend getting but was able to get around to wrapping up most of my Android Micro.blog app concept. I'm leaning towards building an Invision prototype tonight after I finish up a couple more screens and enabling comments on …
Almost done my first cut of the timeline in the Android Micro.blog app design concept. I’ll be tackling mentions and discover pages tomorrow, then wrapping up a couple other pages over the weekend before hopefully showing it off early next …
I started my Micro.blog Android app concept this week and will have some screens to share soon. Really liking how it's coming along.
As an RSS user, the news in my Google Feed is so stale by the time I get to it, I wonder why they wouldn't offer some sort of integration with Feedly or something similar. At the very least, I'd love to be able to disable it or use the …
I’d even go as far as saying that, in a single issue, Doomsday Clock shows it has more of the spirit of the original Watchmen than almost all of the Before Watchmen books ever did. Save for Adam Hughes’ Doctor Manhattan series. That …
I really enjoyed the first chapter of Doomsday Clock. It’s tough to see how these two worlds will fit together but the first issue really sets the hook for the rest of the series.
When it comes to Doomsday Clock, I definitely haven’t been this excited for a DC release in a long time. If anyone is going to make me want to read about the Watchmen’s arrival in the DCU, it’s Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. …
My dad, who passed away almost ten years ago, would have been 61 today. I wouldn’t be half the man I am today without him.
I’ve gone completely off the deep end. My Android Wear watch arrives tomorrow.
While I didn’t follow the themes at all, I did earn the Photo Challenge pin. It’s such a fun project and I’m glad to have taken part in it.
Taking the opportunity to make some changes to the design of my microblog as I’m moving content over. I’m having a little too much fun and will need to cut off soon or I’ll be here all night.
Packing my metaphorical boxes and moving a pile of my content over to my microblog. I’ll continue to use my Tumblr for images and whatever I find on there but any writing and more personal stuff will be posted here going forward.
Disappointed but hardly surprised by the reviews Justice League is getting. At the very least, it sounds like it’ll be entertaining and a step up from both Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.
Really happy with the Oreo update for the PH-1. Notification dots are a nice touch, the new view for notifications on the lock screen is really nice too.
Speaking of projects, I finally catalogued all my digital comics. Now, working my way through my physical comic collection.
I’ve starting looking into the process of merging my Tumblr and WordPress sites and have run into a ton of CSS issues displaying new types of posts. Looks like I have another new project.
The more I use both Tumblr and WordPress for writing, the more I feel like I should consolidate the two into one project. I’m just not sure I’m ready to have one site that contains both my culture posts/commentary and my …
The Essential PH-1 has arrived.
I’m completely floored by the Bendis news this morning. I’ll read whatever he’s on just because it’ll feel so abnormal, much like when JRJR started on Superman.
Essential phone ordered. I ended up getting the white version from Amazon for $50 less than Telus. I’ll be happy to never step in one of their stores again.
Those anti-Apple Samsung ads are so strange to me. Say what you will about Apple but Samsung’s phones exploded — literally blew up — twice.
Finally got around to seeing Wonder Woman. I really enjoyed it. It is by far the best DCEU film so far.
Alright, I give. I visited multiple Telus stores today and was told by all of them that I can’t buy the PH-1 outright. That a company would make their device this hard for people to buy is alarming.
I can’t wait for The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 tabletop game, looks like it’ll be a blast for fans of the Carpenter classic.
Seems like getting the Essential phone just wasn’t meant to be. Telus refuses to sell devices outright, which is news to me. Given how hard it is to get one — since Essential only ships to the US and I am not and will not be a Telus …
That price cut on the Essential phone makes it very tempting, just wish it was available from Telus in white.
Despite just having jumped into Destiny 2, I grabbed a copy of Super Mario Odyssey. I haven’t played enough of it to decide if I like it or not but it’s definitely a nice change from what I’ve been playing lately.
Blown away by Destiny 2 on the PC. It runs so smooth, the combat is so tight, and it’s incredibly fun. If it wasn’t clear already — in my opinion — Bungie has reclaimed their spot at the top of the FPS food chain.
I gave it one more shot trying to get a SNES mini tonight. The Best Buy site buckled in seconds and the console was sold out in two minutes. I’ll stick with my RetroPie.
Still playing catch-up on my comics but finally got to read Metal #1. Interesting first chapter that I’m sure will be unlike anything we’ve seen in a Batman book. Snyder and Capullo are a dream team, once again poised to deliver that …
I caved. Destiny 2 has been purchased. With all the other games on my playlist right now, it’s become crystal clear how serious this addiction really is. 😛
Finding it really hard not to just cave and buy Destiny 2 on PC. I’ll see if I can’t hold off the temptation for now and finish some of the other games on my backlog.
It only took having a kid to understand the struggle everyone had with the 16GB iPhone. My phone is loaded with baby pictures.

Got my invite for the Starborne alpha. Super excited to jump into it, might even stream some of it on Twitch.
I finally had the time to read the first issue of the new Mister Miracle book. It’s exactly what I’d expect from King and Gerads. It was so good. Highly recommended.
With Stardew Valley finally available, I’m dusting off my Switch and giving it a shot. It still shocks me how empty the eShop is this far past the system’s launch date.
Plenty to be thankful for this year. Great friends, wonderful family, my beautiful wife, Rachel, and our son, Henry. I’d say 2017 has been pretty good so far.
Sometimes I really wish I didn’t despise the experience of seeing a movie in a theatre as much as I do. I’d really love to see Blade Runner 2049 sooner than later.
Really blown away by how much more I’m enjoying Prey on the PC than on the PS4. I’m really glad I gave it a second chance.
Huge, awesome update today from the Bobby team. If you need a simple app to keep track of your subscriptions and bills, give them a look.
Call me crazy but, from an industrial design perspective, I feel like Google beat Apple in the battle of Pixel 2 XL vs. iPhone X. Love the symmetrical in the top and bottom bezels, the pop of colour in the power button. However, still hate …
I pre-ordered a couple Google Home Minis after the event today. I’ve been really pleased with the original Home device, will be nice to have the assistant cover more areas in our house.
That resigned launcher on the rumoured Pixel 2 phones looks pretty rough. Having trouble understanding the placement of that search bar. I would constantly be hitting it by accident. Really like the calendar reminders at the top and the …
So while RUINER is an excellent game, it’s also incredibly hard. Even on easy, it’s taking me dozens of attempts to beat some levels.
RUINER is incredible. The gameplay just drips with style and flair. The audio really knocks it out of the park. Highly recommended.
It took two months and a Raspberry Pi but I think I’ve finally convinced myself not to buy a SNES Classic. Maybe.
Twitter is the most depressing part of my day.
After 42 long weeks of waiting, my wife and I welcomed our son Henry into the world this past week.
The more I use Micro.blog, the less I see myself continuing to use Twitter. The design and control I have of my content is becoming too good to pass up.
Still crazy that I can pre-order an iPhone 8 Plus and get it before the end of September. Are that many people really waiting for the X?
Free weekend on Steam for The Division. Will be fun to jump back in and see what’s changed. I haven’t played since the beta / launch.
$35 later, I finally bought all the comics I’ve been holding off on for the past month and a half. Now I just have to read them.
If I took a shot every time I saw a typo in an article on Bleeding Cool, I’d black out before I finished the headline.
Joz “going rogue” at the event today to explain the magic of the LTE Apple Watch was really exciting. I loved that he took the time to really drive home how special these experiences can be.
Get real. Unlocked buyers won't care. It will cost everyone else $10/mo more. This is the dumbest argument in history of Apple pricing. I’m really not sure why it took so long for something like this to be said or why it had to be …
Where you at little dude?

Had I realized how similar Prey would be to Bioshock, I likely wouldn’t have bought it. I’m not feeling the first hours, but I’m hoping that changes.
If you’re near a comic shop today, be sure to swing by, grab some free books, and buy a few as well to say thanks.
First issue of Black Bolt was great. With an interesting story, and incredible art, I’ll definitely keep reading.
I finally got around to reading The Belfry. If you dug Wytches, check this one out. It’s a great horror one-shot.
The makeshift controller that ships with the Switch reminds me so much of the ones for the Dreamcast and I think I love it.
The Switch increasingly sounds like something that should/could have arrived five years ago but does it matter if the games are good? Not really. The initial buzz for Zelda is good, which was expected, but what about the rest? What’s …
I just finished Resident Evil 7, overall I really liked it. That said, so many of the things it does right are almost completely undone by terribly predictable boss battles. Still, it’s an incredible feat to have re-energized the …
